The day has arrived! After three years of work, four home studios, one flood, and a few water-damaged guitars, our third album, Forever and Ever Amen, is finally available. You can listen below for free, and when you get attached and want to take it home, you can buy it for the low, low price of seven dollars American. Listen now and thank me later:

I assembled this lost Ersatz Glow song from the drum tracks from a 2003 recording session, the guitar and vocals from a 2010 live show, and bass and a few added guitar parts from recordings I made a month or so ago in my living room. Hooray for technology and a slow work day!
So ends the nostalgic vault-rummaging. Stay tuned for new-new developments!
Christmas in July
While we’re emptying the vaults, here’s a little gift for your holiday long weekend (hopefully): The Christmas EP’s that Ersatz Glow recorded from 2000-2002 have been remastered and are collected online for the first time. Enjoy it for America!
If I Look Like Buddy Holly, You Look Like Lisa Loeb.
From 1998 to 2003, Building Rockets impresario Sam Heath was the singer and bassist for Jacksonville, FL’s Ersatz Glow. Now, coinciding with the 10th anniversary of their last concert (their reunion set in 2010 notwithstanding), Ersatz Glow collects the best of their studio recordings (and one live track that just needed to be on there). Listen for free or download for whatever amount strikes you:
I Assure You, We Are Open
Hi, everyone. The record is (still) almost done. Blame adult responsibilities, wedding planning, work, anal-retentiveness, etc. Believe me when I say the wait will be worth it — put away those ugly memories of rushing to the store to buy Chinese Democracy the day it came out. I’m really proud of it, and it does sound like it took years to record/build/assemble. In the meantime, since I’m not ready to share the new stuff, here’s something you might not have gotten the chance to hear before: In 2008, I recorded an acoustic EP of Colin Meloy covers: 7 Decemberists songs, and one by his former band, Tarkio. We only gave it away at shows, and probably not very many shows at that. So here it is to enjoy again for the first time. See you soon with more news!
